Blind Vision

By Judy Ann Dolce

I recently reviewed the band "Blind Vision" on Colvin Avenue.  I was not sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised.  I am not an easy "catch" when it comes to alternative and hard rock music.  I am very particular and like only certain artists and styles.  But the band cast out the line and soon reeled me in.  I was hooked (like a fish) by their enthusiasm and creativity.  The members of Blind Vision have a great sense of humor and are very much "into what they do and "they do it well"...

The group includes David Levesque, Lead Vocals; Mike DiStefano, Lead guitar/vocals, Thom Krauss, the newest member on bass; Mark Waley, rhythm guitar and vocals; and Colin Barrick on drums/vocals.

The band members are no stranger to the Buffalo Music Awards.  "Blind Vision" was nominated in 1996 as Best New Band.  Furthermore, the members have added best Rock Drummer and nominations for Best Rock Bassist, and Best Vocalist of subsequent years to their collection of achievements.

"Take One, Scene One" was at Gillie's on April 19th.  The music was enhanced by the dynamics of lights, smoke, and action.  Blind Vision utilized their "straight forward" talent of a tight sound with a "get close and personal with the audience" approach.

Blind Vision carries the "top of the line" fishing pole, strong enough to capture.

They don't mind going after the "big catch" and dare to tread in rough water by the diversity of a song list that includes a wide variety.  From Beatle to Tom Petty, up stream, wit Metallica and Badfinger, or trolling with the Romantics and Van Morrison.  No matter what type of fish they wish to catch, they got the bait.

Each member contributes to the band.  Dave uses his vocals wisely, he belts out the tough ones, yet knows how to soften it up on the ballads.  I think his vocals best suit the Creed and Bush tunes.  He has a great expression and puts out great sound waves.  That night, Mark puts the hammer to the nail by singe the AC-DC popular "TNT".  Then to the contrary, Blind Vision "casts off": a great rendition of the country hit "Friends in Low Places".  Meanwhile, Mike really  looked impressive on his leads in a number of rock tunes.

Adding more bait, they pulled in the "big one" with their original song called "Watch My Fingers".  It has the power of a "Bush" tune, and the intensity compared to that of the "Stone Temple Pilots".  I think the band has great potential and should focus on the development of their original music.  They surely have the talent.

Blind Vision's future gigs include Desiderio's on May 3rd, Fireside Inn on June 1st, and South Shore Inn in Angola on July 13th.  "Be a perfect catch" and see their act.  For more information visit Blind Vision on their website:www.geocities.com/bvision98.
